The foundation of my art is the relationship between colors: the push and pull that tells me where they stand in space. The quilting line is my chief tool in acting upon that relationship. My current works employ quilting as a drawn line: to shade, to define direction, to create form, to suggest scale or space. These effects are in addition to the customary tasks of quilting: to bind the layers together and to complement, embellish or add texture to the pieced composition.

Compelled by a deep need to see my visions emerge, I work with as much spontaneity as I can build into the process. My quilts are done in series, pushing the limits of similar compositions. For my larger pieces I often make sketches to get me started quilting. But I never execute a drawing wholesale. I love solving the problems of balance and integration posed by each addition of quilting lines.

My web site includes a gallery of current quilts as well as an archival section. Please email me with your responses to or questions about my work. And thank you for visiting.
